The Scale Didn’t Move This Week
After months of watching the number steadily drop, this week it didn’t. Not one pound. I’ve been here before, though, and I’m learning that sometimes the scale needs a minute to catch up with everything else.
327 last week.
327 this week.
Not exactly the update I was hoping to see.
For most of this journey, I've gotten pretty used to seeing the number on the scale move in the right direction. I've gone from 409 pounds to 327, and when you're seeing progress fairly consistently, it's easy to start expecting that number to be lower every time you step on the scale.
But that's not how this works.
This actually happened once before. The scale stopped moving for a little while, and then it started again. Nothing dramatic changed. I didn't suddenly discover some secret trick. I just kept doing what I had been doing.
Sometimes I think my body simply needs a minute to catch up.
And that's something I'm trying to get better at remembering.
The Scale Isn't the Whole Story
It's really easy to let one number decide whether you had a successful week.
But I'm still going to the gym. I'm still moving more. I'm still making better choices. I'm still doing things today that would have been much harder for me when I started this journey.
None of that disappeared because the scale says 327 again.
I also have to remind myself just how far 327 already is from 409.
That's 82 pounds.
One week without a loss doesn't erase any of it.
You can see how much those numbers have changed over time on my progress page.
So What Am I Changing?
Right now?
Nothing.
I'm not going to panic because of one week. I'm not going to assume something stopped working. And I'm definitely not going to let one stubborn number convince me that I'm suddenly going backward.
I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing and see what happens next.
There may come a point where a real plateau means I need to look at something differently. But one week isn't enough for me to call it that.
For now, I'm sticking with my current stack, my gym routine, and the things that have gotten me this far.
My update is pretty simple:
327 last week. 327 this week. Keep going.
Sometimes progress moves.
Sometimes it waits for you to catch up.
And sometimes, apparently, you wait for it.
