A Week Off My Routine - Learning to Cycle
Summer Camp meant a week away from my normal routine and a planned break from what I had been using. I expected it to be harder than it was — and that taught me something.
I mentioned in my three-month update that I took the kids from church to Summer Camp.
What I didn’t mention was that I also decided to take that week off from the peptides I had been using.
I had been on this journey since March, and I was due for a break, so camp seemed like a good week to do it.
And I’ll admit, I wondered what was going to happen.
I was going to be away from home, completely outside of my normal routine, surrounded by camp food and snacks — and taking a break from the GLP-1 that had been helping me with hunger and food noise.
I remember thinking afterward:
I didn’t go crazy.
I wasn’t suddenly starving. I didn’t spend the week wanting to eat everything around me. I didn’t use being at camp as an excuse to completely abandon what I’d been doing.
I just… ate.
And kept going.
Maybe I'm Learning Something
The scale didn’t go down that week.
But it didn’t go up either.
I stayed the same weight.
Earlier in this journey, I probably would have looked at a week without weight loss and been disappointed.
This one felt different.
I had stepped away from my normal routine for a week, taken a planned break from the GLP-1 I was using, spent the week at Summer Camp, and still maintained my weight.
More importantly, I realized that maybe some of the habits I’d been working on were starting to stick.
The medication had been a tool in this journey.
But I was learning too.
And that might have been the bigger win that week.
Later, when the scale stopped moving again, I had this week to remind me that one unchanged number doesn’t mean the journey has stopped.
