Six Months In — 89 Pounds Down
Six months, 89 pounds down, and the biggest changes aren’t just on the scale. I’m walking farther, doing more, and realizing just how much my stamina has changed.
Six months.
When I started this journey in March, I weighed 409 pounds. This week, I hit 89 pounds lost.
That number is still a little hard for me to wrap my head around. I’m getting very close to 90 pounds gone, and 100 pounds doesn’t feel nearly as far away as it once did.
But this month, the biggest reminder of how far I’ve come didn’t happen on the scale.
I had one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time. There was a lot going on, a lot of walking, carrying things, being on my feet, and just generally doing more than I would have been able to comfortably handle six months ago.
And I handled it.
I wasn’t completely worn out. I wasn’t constantly stopping to catch my breath. I wasn’t thinking about how far I had to walk or whether I had enough energy to get through everything.
I was just doing it.
That’s one of those changes that’s hard to put into a progress chart.
Earlier in this journey, I wrote about how ten minutes on the treadmill used to be hard. Now I’m looking back at an entire busy week and realizing that my stamina has changed dramatically.
The weight loss is showing up in places that have nothing to do with a scale.
Sharing What I’ve Learned
Something else has started happening lately too.
I’ve found myself talking with other people about what I’ve learned during the past six months.
I’ve spent a lot of time researching, asking questions, learning about nutrition, exercise, medications and peptides, and paying attention to what my own body is telling me. I certainly don’t have everything figured out, but I know a whole lot more than I did when I started.
And now some of those conversations are helping other people who are trying to make changes of their own.
That’s actually become one of my favorite unexpected parts of this journey.
Pepper Journey started because I wanted somewhere to document what I was doing, what I was learning, and what was happening along the way. If sharing those experiences helps somebody else ask better questions or feel a little more confident starting their own journey, that’s pretty cool.
Six Months Later
I’m still using Retatrutide as the foundation of what I’m doing, along with the other pieces of my current stack I’ve added and adjusted along the way.
I’m still going to the gym.
I’m still learning.
I’m still figuring things out as I go.
And there are still weeks when the scale doesn’t cooperate exactly the way I’d like it to.
But six months ago I was 409 pounds.
Today I’m 320 pounds.
That’s 89 pounds gone.
More importantly, I can walk farther. I can do more. I have more stamina. A physically demanding week doesn’t completely wipe me out anymore.
I’m not finished.
But after six months, I don’t have to wonder whether all of this is making a difference.
I can feel the difference.
